B2B Sales Partner Manager West at Nespresso
How did you get your start in the industry?
I started my professional career in water filtration with the Brita Company which led to my introduction to the Office Coffee Service industry with Filterfresh Coffee Service, a division of Van Houtte Coffee. It was at Filterfresh that I was introduced to the Keurig Single Cup system and an eventual tenure with Tully’s Coffee where I helped launch the Tully’s Kcup. Today, I have taken my experience with coffee service and coffee manufacturing to the Nespresso Professional Division.
What do you see as the most important trend in the industry?
Single Cup Coffee Serve continues as the fastest-growing category in the office coffee service segment. OCS and specifically single serve is expected to grow by 7% in cities such as Minneapolis, Los Angeles and D.C to lead the growth in 2016 cities according to Study Logic. The Southwest as a whole had a 7.9 % Increase in office coffee service.
You are a relatively new SHFM Member. What do you get out of your involvement?
So far I would have to say that interacting with some of the most significant professionals in their industries. These people provide product, services and oversee decisions for many of the fortune 500 companies. The collaboration with these professionals helps us develop as a leader in our category offerings.
What would you say to someone considering a membership with SHFM?
I would have to say that the major benefits for us at Nespresso are the national and regional conferences, networking events, and online directory. If you drill deep into the web site you can find industry trends, career opportunities and potential partners.
What and where was the best meal you have ever had?
Well, I’m a vegan and my dining options are not always abundant. However the best vegan meal I’ve ever had was in Portland OR at a food cart/truck called Homegrown Smoker. I enjoy the SloSmoMoFo Barbeque which is a meatless adaptation to a Carolina smoked meat sandwich. The Mac NoCheese is great too.
